Job description

Role: Commercial Manager. Contract Length: 6 months. Location: Hybrid 40% – locations throughout UK. Pay rate: PAYE equivalent of £515 umbrella per day.

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to help drive delivery of a nationally significant infrastructure programme. The portfolio includes new builds, major refurbishments, and expansions across a diverse and complex estate. You will ideally have experience working with NEC3/NEC4 or PPC2000 contracts, a track record of managing large-scale projects, and the confidence to influence stakeholders in complex, client-side environments.

Key Accountabilities

• Manage post-contract administration for construction and professional service contracts.
• Lead on variations, change control, issue resolution, and risk management.
• Provide expert commercial advice and support to stakeholders on strategy and contract management.
• Negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value while ensuring compliance with governance and policy.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with estates, operations, finance, and supply chain partners.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and innovative commercial solutions across the portfolio.

Key Criteria

Essential:

• Proven experience in infrastructure, construction, or property environments.
• Strong background in procurement and/or contract management.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage supplier relationships effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, with success working both independently and collaboratively.
• Membership of a relevant professional body or degree in surveying, engineering, law, finance, or equivalent industry experience.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 or PPC2000 contracts.
• Client-side or regulated procurement experience.
• Experience managing projects of £20m+ in scale.
• Familiarity with procurement and file management systems (e.g., Oracle, Bravo, 4Projects).
