A local government authority in Scotland seeks an enthusiastic Environmental Health Technical Assistant to enforce Environmental Crimes, focusing on fly tipping. Candidates will need to demonstrate excellent literacy, numerical, and IT skills, with a preference for those who have experience in public service and criminal enforcement. This temporary role offers a salary of £28,742 - £29,070 and requires a valid driving license for district visits.

Hours: 35 hours per week
Work Pattern: Back Shirt - Monday - Thursday 1:30pm - 9pm, Friday 8:45am - 4pm and Saturday 9am - 5pm
Work Pattern: Early Shift - Tuesday 8:45am - 4:45pm, Wednesday - Thursday 1:30pm - 9pm and Friday 8:45am - 4pm

These posts are temporary.
We are seeking to appoint assertive, enthusiastic and self motivated Environmental Health Technical Assistants who can accept and tackle demanding goals. The Assistants will be motivated to bring changes to people’s behaviour in terms of Environmental Crimes (predominantly supporting Fly Tipping enforcement work, acting as a witness). Day to day duties will include the enforcement of relevant legislation in respect of behaviour concerning Fly Tipping, which may include the issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices.
You may also be expected to appear in court to speak to the offences/evidence you have been witness to.
You may also be involved in Litter and Dog Fouling enforcement.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent literacy, numerical and IT skills, and have the ability to organise your workload in an effective and productive way.
Ideally you will have experience working with the public and have carried out criminal enforcement duties in order to join our expanding specialist team. Environmental Crime Team
No specific qualification is required, however enforcement of criminal legislation (ideally within this area and/or a related area) would be beneficial but not essential.
Experience in utilising criminal evidence gathered from CCTV sources would be beneficial but again not essential.
This is a temporary post for 2 years from your start date. You will require a driving licence, as all areas of the district will require to be visited.
