Overview
Multi Axis CNC Turner & Operator / Machinist & Setter role based in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, East Midlands. Producing high-precision components for aerospace and defence sectors using advanced machining technology. Salary: Competitive depending on experience + benefits. Job type: Full-Time, Permanent. Working hours: 39 hours per week with an early finish on Friday.
Duties
- Programming and Setting: Work with multi-axis, multi-spindle/turret lathes with Siemens and Fanuc controls
- Machine Operation: Perform spindle probing, datum setting, tool offsetting and programme selection
- Reading Drawings: Interpret 2D and 3D engineering drawings
- Production Recording: Accurately record productive time and manage route cards
- Continuous Improvement: Take part in activities such as 5S, TPM and OEE discussions
- Health and Safety: Promote and maintain safe working practices
- Quality Control: Carry out self-inspection and resolve non-conformance issues
- Measuring Systems: Use standard measuring tools and methodologies effectively
Candidate Requirements
ESSENTIAL
- Proven Experience: Programming, setting and operating multi-axis CNC lathes
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent background
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in aerospace, nuclear, medical, automotive (high end) or motorsport sectors
- Quality Standards: Ability to work to high tolerances such as Airbus SO4 and S104 standards
- Teamwork Skills: Able to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Positive Mindset: Flexible, proactive and solutions-focused attitude
- Local Availability: Ideally based within a reasonable commute of Sutton-in-Ashfield
DESIRABLE
- AS9100 / EASA Part 21 (G): Knowledge of working within regulated standards
- CAD/CAM Use: CAD/CAM programming experience advantageous
- Shift Flexibility: Willingness to cover rotating shifts, including some nights or weekends
