Job description

Our client a leading developer and manufacturer serving the structural health, construction and civil engineering markets. They are seeking a skilled CNC Setter/Operator Machinist (Lathe) to join their team in Uckfield.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce components from single pieces to large batches with high precision and accuracy.
• Set up and operate CNC lathes and sliding head machines, ordering and preparing appropriate tooling as required.
• Conduct first-off and final inspections on your own work and that of other team members.
• Perform general machine maintenance and clean, strip down, and tidy machines after use.
• Adhere to 5S principles and maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop.
• Create change request forms for any component alterations or additions.
• Complete ad-hoc tasks as directed by the line manager.
• Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of others, in line with company policies.

Requirements:

• Proven experience setting and operating sliding head and CNC lathes (Fanuc systems).
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings.
• Strong knowledge of dimensional measurement and control.
• Familiarity with different raw materials and bar-feeding equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively independently or within a small team.
