Job summary

A leading precision engineering company is looking for a skilled Setter/Operator to manage high-tech machine assets in Cambridge. You will ensure peak efficiency and quality in a world-class environment, following AS9100 and medical standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in precision engineering, knowledge of automated machinery, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Qualifications

  • Proven background as a Setter/Operator within a high-precision engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of automated machinery and machine tools.
  • Experience working within ISO9000 or AS9100 quality frameworks is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Securely set up and run equipment according to product operation requirements.
  • Perform quality control activities to ensure zero-defect production.
  • Identify potential process improvements for management.
  • Monitor tool life and replace damaged tools to prevent downtime.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness and perform basic preventative maintenance.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled Setter/Operator to join a world-class precision engineering environment. Working to AS9100 and medical standards, you will be responsible for ensuring high-tech machine assets are running at peak efficiency while maintaining the highest quality of output.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set & Operate: Securely set up and run equipment in line with detailed product operation requirements.
  • Quality Control: Perform in-cycle activities including part deburring and gauge checking to ensure zero-defect production.
  • Process Improvement: Proactively identify and highlight potential machining method improvements to management.
  • Tooling Management: Monitor tool life, replacing broken or damaged tools immediately to prevent downtime.
  • Maintenance: Maintain machine cleanliness and perform basic preventative maintenance to ensure safety and longevity.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven background as a Setter/Operator within a high-precision engineering environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of automated machinery, machine tools, and manufacturing H&S.
  • Standards: Experience working within ISO9000 or AS9100 quality frameworks (Desirable).
  • Qualifications: Level 2 Engineering qualification or equivalent.
  • Mindset: A resilient, flexible team player with a “continuous improvement” attitude.
