Job description

Express Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a well-established engineering business that supplies and services precision equipment to clients across a range of advanced manufacturing sectors. With a strong reputation for technical quality and customer support, they are now seeking a Field Engineer to join their growing technical service team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing on-site support to customers using high-accuracy inspection systems. This includes carrying out routine servicing, diagnosing and resolving faults, and upgrading both software and hardware. The role is field based, covering a national territory, and includes some travel with occasional overnight stays.

Their ideal candidate will bring a combination of electrical and mechanical knowledge, be confident working independently in customer environments, and have a positive and proactive approach to problem-solving. Prior experience working with high-precision machinery or technical instrumentation is highly desirable.

The position offering a competitive salary of up to c£40,000 per annum D.O.E with access to paid overtime, company vehicle, laptop, pension, and a daily meal allowance. With ongoing training and development available, this is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded engineer looking for variety and autonomy in a field-based role.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide service support for precision engineering equipment at client sites across the UK
• Identify and resolve technical issues on both mechanical and electronic systems
• Carry out equipment calibrations and routine maintenance
• Install and configure system upgrades as required
• Work closely with customers to ensure service quality and satisfaction
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and equipment performance
• Travel regularly as part of a field-based schedule, including some overnight stays

Skills and Experience

• Background in mechanical or electrical engineering
• Experience with diagnostic or measurement equipment would be an advantage
• Able to interpret technical documentation and understand system schematics
• Comfortable using computer software and working with technical tools
• Strong customer service approach and confident communication skills
• Flexible with travel and willing to work away from home when needed
• Full UK driving licence required
