Job summary

A technology recruitment firm is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer / VMWare VCF Engineer for a 3-month project in Hampshire, UK. The role requires deep expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation to design and maintain a private cloud platform while adhering to Data-Centric Security principles. Successful candidates will need prior experience in infrastructure engineering and must be Security Cleared before appointment. This full-time position is based on-site five days a week.

Qualifications

• Previous infrastructure/platform engineering experience, preferably with exposure to VCF.
• Understanding of Data-Centric Security principles.
• Strong foundations in networking, storage, OS and platform monitoring and logging.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, operate, and improve the private cloud platform.
• Translate business requirements into scalable VCF architectures.
• Plan capacity and designs compliant with HCL.
• Maintain and secure multi-classification virtual environments.
• Configure VCF and automate deployments.
• Integrate platform services effectively.
• Establish templates and standard operating procedures.

Cloud Infrastructure Engineer / VMWare VCF Engineer

Duration / Status: 3 months+ – Outside IR35 – Hampshire, UK. Full time on site (5 days per week).

Please note: Successful applicants will be required to be Security Cleared prior to appointment due to the nature of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Infrastructure/Application engineer with deep expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) to design, build, operate and continuously improve our private cloud platform, in support of a Data-Centric Security LoE.
• Translate business and application requirements into scalable VCF reference architectures (MGmt/WLD domaine, VI WLD design, consolidated vs. standard deployments).
• Plan capacity, BOM and HCL-compliant designs (compute, storage, networking), including Edge design.
• Maintain, improve, and secure multi-classification, virtualised, collaboration and development environments.
• Stand up and configure VCF, automating deployments.
• Integrate platform services and configure where used.
• Establish templates, standard operating procedures and baselines for app teams.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Previous infrastructure/platform engineering experience, preferably with exposure to VCF.
• Understanding of Data-Centric Security principles.
• Strong foundations in networking, storage, OS and platform monitoring and logging.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• Experience of MOD systems and processes.
• Experience of MOD assurance processes.
