About the Opportunity

We’re seeking anAssistant Vice President (AVP), Cloud Engineer, who is not only proficient in cloud infrastructure but also possesses a strategic mindset as a problem solver, builder, and product visionary. If you have experience working with GCP or AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Python or Java, coupled with a passion for automation at scale, we encourage you to apply.

This role offers the opportunity to leverage cutting-edge Cloud capabilities to enhance agility, efficiency, and innovation across the organization. As an AVP, Cloud Engineer within the Public Cloud Container Services team, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing our public cloud strategy.

You will lead initiatives within a team that consistently delivers impactful results. This includes designing and managing the platform responsible for the automated deployment of containerized applications globally across multiple public clouds. Our cloud platforms empower the business to deploy mission-critical workloads. From establishing a cloud-based High-Performance Compute (HPC) platform for complex risk calculations and enabling Citi to leverage GenAI at scale, to facilitating innovative payments solutions, this team is at the forefront of technological advancement.

Team/Role Overview

We are looking for a seasoned software development professional. As an AVP, this role demands strong technical skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and partners throughout the entire development lifecycle. This includes inception, design, deployment, operational management, and continuous iterative refinement.

As an AVP, Cloud Engineer within the Public Cloud Container Services team, you will be essential in developing the platform, tooling, and services necessary to support the deployment of Cloud platform resources. The Public Cloud platform team is globally distributed, comprising Architects, Cloud Engineers, DevOps engineers, and Full Stack Developers. Cloud Engineers in the Public Cloud Container Services team are primarily based in the UK and Poland.

What you’ll do

  • Engineering Excellence:Apply engineering best practices and industry standards, utilizing modern tooling to enable CI/CD and emphasizing automation, auditability, automated testing, infrastructure as code, and policy as code.

  • Hands-on Design and Build:Develop tooling and capabilities required to enable our cloud-first strategy, contributing directly to the design and implementation.

  • Innovation and Automation:Contribute creative solutions to address infrastructure challenges, fostering a product-focused mindset within the team.

  • Partnership and Collaboration:Collaborate with Citi's technology teams to ensure alignment with business goals and priorities.

  • Compliance:Adhere to applicable standards, policies, and regulations, consistently assessing risk to protect Citi's reputation, clients, and assets.

What we’ll need from you

  • Demonstrated experience in cloud engineering with solid knowledge of Terraform and GCP or AWS.

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes (GKE/EKS) and Helm charts.

  • Familiarity with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD/Flux, Harness

  • Competence in Python or Java; Go is a plus (for custom tooling/controllers).

  • A passion for automation, clean code principles (DRY), and solving complex problems.

  • Experience working in regulated industries (preferred).
