Overview

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

We are offering a rare opportunity for an enthusiastic Computing Clinical Technologist to join our Bioinformatics, Imaging and Oncology Systems group to provide Clinical IT Systems support within the Radiotherapy Department, at the Queen's Cancer Centre in Cottingham, East Yorkshire.

The department has long-standing evidence of research and collaboration, developments in equipment and clinical service, and high commitment to quality and governance; these include implementation of a new hardware cluster to support the expansion of Radiotherapy IT systems, in-house bespoke software, bioinformatics / data reporting, and the safe introduction and governance of cutting edge medical technology.

The department was the first Radiotherapy Physics service to gain UKAS accreditation to the emerging BS70000 MPACE quality standard, evidencing that commitment to delivery of high quality clinical service is a core value of the team, and we continue to maintain ISO9001 certification for the entire Radiotherapy service.

The department supports Radiotherapy which operates 8AM-8PM across Monday - Friday, and the post holder is expected to be flexible in order to support these hours where required, and be flexible to work out of hours where needed.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Technologist in Computing will contribute to the safe and effective use, and maintenance of the critical clinical IT infrastructure that underpins the delivery of Radiotherapy treatment, under the scientific supervision of the Principal Clinical Scientist for Radiotherapy Computing & Bioinformatics.

The successful applicant will be joining and established team of Healthcare Science professionals, comprising Clinical Scientists and Technologists, and support staff. The team prides itself on high staff retention and has a pragmatic approach to achieving safe and effective service delivery. The department is committed to providing a broad scope for the development of all members of staff are encouraged to develop areas of expertise and interest within the overall clinical service requirements.

Please be aware that it is expected that the postholder will work towards Register of Clinical Technologists registration as a Clinical Technologist in Clinical Computing (or equivalent). Candidates with less experience or those who are not registered may be appointed at the Annex 21 of Band 6 until registration is achieved.
