We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated registered nurse to join our dynamic Fertility Team working in Fertility Exeter. This is a developmental Band 5-6 post, offering a structured training programme for nurses with gynaecology experience who wish to develop specialist skills in fertility and reproductive medicine. The post is a permanent post and offers applicants the opportunity to provide clinical services in the field of human reproduction which includes, but is not limited to, the assessment investigation and management of couples seeking help to conceive, ovulation induction, pelvic ultrasound scanning for fertility purposes, clinical procedures relating to in‑vitro fertilisation (IVF) and embryo transfer, administration of Entonox, and assist with surgical sperm recovery.
Fertility Exeter is one of the main centres for assisted reproductive procedures in the South-West and is licensed by the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority (HFEA). It provides treatment services to both NHS and self‑funded patients and is based within the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust at Heavitree Hospital.
This post is a Band 5 trainee role, who will be required to acquire the knowledge and skills through a training package to become a Band 6 Nurse Specialist in Infertility. This position is also open to those who may already be trained with the necessary skills as a Fertility Specialist Nurse. Those applicants who already hold these skills and competencies would be employed as a Band 6.
The postholder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care for patients and couples undergoing fertility investigations and treatment. Following successful completion of competencies and training objectives, the postholder will progress to a Band 6 Fertility Nurse Specialist, practising autonomously within the service.
