A leading NHS healthcare provider in London seeks a Research Assistant to support the ILD research team during maternity leave. The role involves patient screening, data management, and clinical support on various studies. Ideal candidates should be motivated and able to work in a dynamic research environment. A unique opportunity to support the ILD research team during maternity leave cover. Working on a variety of commercial and non-commercial studies with a dedicated team made up of Consultants, Registrars, CRP and Research Nurse. Working closely with other respiratory research teams including Asthma and COPD. Opportunity for self development within respiratory research and possibility to support leads in non-commercial projects. Attending conferences and research specific meetings as required.
The department of respiratory medicine includes chest clinics on both St Thomas' and Guy's sites, lung function laboratories on both sites and also the sleep disorder centre in Nuffield House on the Guy's site.
The service offers out-patient clinics at both sites for all respiratory disorders with the exception of cystic fibrosis. There are a number of specialist clinics including lung cancer, tuberculosis, asthma, COPD, pleural disease and assessment for pulmonary rehabilitation.
The department also offers a range of diagnostic services including fibreoptic bronchoscopy, endoscopic bronchial ultrasound, induced sputum, pleural aspiration, pulmonary function testing, full cardiopulmonary exercise testing, TB testing and contact tracing. The service has close links with the departments of allergy, thoracic surgery, Lane Fox Unit, oncology and radiotherapy and the respiratory consultants are also involved in the care of inpatients for general medicine, ICU and HDU.
The Research team is committed to undertaking clinical research and has built up a core of expertise and is leading and collaborating in an interesting portfolio of studies, including delivering on National Institute of Health Research funded studies and commercially funded studies.
