Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical research nurse to join the Gastroenterology Medicine and Surgery (GMS) non-commercial research team. You will work as part of, and be supported by, a well-established multi-disciplinary research team with a strong track record of producing high impact, translational research.

The ideal candidate will have developed excellent core nursing skills having worked in an NHS setting and have knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as it relates to research (https://www.nihr.ac.uk/health-and-care-professionals/learning-and-support/good-clinical-practice.htm). Experience of gastroenterology nursing is desirable. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will possess good timekeeping and prioritisation skills and be willing to learn and develop within the role.

The normal working hours for the post is Monday - Friday 9am-5pm although the post holder may need to be flexible to accommodate patient visits and assessments outside of these hours when required. The role involves work across both the Guys and St Thomas's hospital sites.

Once trained, you will have responsibility for leading on a portfolio of clinical research studies. You will be tasked with liaising with clinical teams to recruit eligible patients, deliver clinical interventions (including dosing) and conduct tests according to specific study protocols. You will support junior members of staff within the team and act as a champion for research within the clinical areas.

You will also be responsible for study follow up, data entry, ensuring patient safety and maintaining high levels of quality assurance.

You will be joining an enthusiastic, friendly, and motivated multidisciplinary team in a dynamic teaching hospital in central London, and will be an essential member of the research team.

There are excellent opportunities for further education and leadership development within this role, with access to CPPD funding and revalidation support. We provide a comprehensive induction programme and ensure that all staff have tailored, individual personal development plans with support for further training. Opportunities for developing new research/clinical skills are available and actively encouraged.
