Job description
Overview

This is a secondment cover post for a Clinical Psychologist to join the Adult Neuropsychology (ANP) service in Dorset and work as a member of the West Dorset Stroke and Neuro Service across the rehabilitation unit at Yeatman Hospital in Sherborne and the community service in North and West Dorset. This post will work with stroke and neuro patients across the pathway. The role will be supervised by the Consultant Clinical Neuro Psychologist within ANP and work closely with the adult Neuropsychology service in Dorset Healthcare. The post holder will be expected to work at Yeatman Hospital, outpatient clinics and community locations in North and West Dorset.

Eligibility & Requirements
  • This is a fixed-term role offered on a secondment basis to those currently in NHS service. Applicants must obtain permission to be released on secondment before submitting an application.
  • Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver psychological services to adults across the Stroke and Neuro Pathway in West Dorset, both in the inpatient rehabilitation unit and community settings.
  • Offer and implement skilled assessments and clinical formulations to enhance the understanding of the nature of stroke/neurological conditions for patients, their carers, and the rehabilitation team.
  • Develop and implement highly specialised clinical psychological programmes, delivered directly to patients and integrated within the multidisciplinary rehabilitation provided.
  • Plan and prioritise workload autonomously, collaborating within the team, with related agencies and teaching organisations.
  • Provide consultancy to primary care and other professionals, including teaching, training and supervision.
  • Support the training and supervision of clinical psychologists, trainee psychologists and assistants, benefitting from links with clinical psychology training programmes and neuropsychology courses at universities linked with Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) in line with guidelines set by the Trust and the BPS/HCPC.
Professional Development

The Clinical Psychologist will have opportunities & obligations to further their CPD in line with guidelines set down by the Trust and the BPS/HCPC.
