Overview

Are you a Clinical Psychologist with a passion for working with children and young people in care, or those who have experienced trauma or attachment insecurity?
We are an exciting opportunity for you to join a highly skilled team of Psychologists, Therapists, and Therapeutic Social Workers, commissioned by Derby City Council and Derby and Derbyshire ICB. In this role you will contribute to the development and delivery of a specialist trauma and attachment service for Children in Care and Care Leavers through specialist assessment, formulation, and intervention, clinical leadership, and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of therapeutic input to Action for Children residential homes, working alongside our Therapeutic Practitioners to provide assessment, formulation, training, whole team reflective practice, and consultation to embed an approach to therapeutic care based on principles of PACE and trauma informed care.
• Contribute to our links with Adoption East Midlands and participate in their multi‑disciplinary team reflection group, collaborating with Virtual School and Educational Psychology services to discuss complex cases through a systemic lens and offer consultations alongside Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Therapeutic Social Workers.
• Provide clinical supervision and oversight to a highly skilled multi‑disciplinary team.
• Support the assessment, formulation, and intervention of complex case work, including the delivery of highly specialist psychological assessments and the co‑delivery of trauma and attachment interventions to children, young people, carers, and those in the professional network.
• Develop, pilot, and co‑facilitate training, group work, and reflective practice sessions for professional teams.
• Lead on aspects of service delivery supporting AFC’s growth strategy around mental health, residential services, and trauma informed psychological practice.
• Contribute to audit and evaluation.

Qualifications

• Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical Psychology.
• Registered as a qualified practitioner Clinical Psychologist by the HCPC.
• Experience of delivering highly specialist risk and psychological assessments.
• Experience of working therapeutically with children, young people, and families, including delivering interventions targeted at addressing complex trauma and attachment insecurity.
• Experience of supervising.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Experience of delivering workshops, training, group work, and reflective practice.
• Car user preferable as the role will involve travelling.
