Job description
Lead Pharmacist – Acute and Emergency Care

The pharmacy department at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust has undergone a restructure with the creation of new lead pharmacist posts aligned to each Clinical Group within the Trust. The Trust is undergoing a significant period of change with digital transformation and implementation of EPMA across the Trust, including Emergency and Acute Care areas, in 2025.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the Clinical Pharmacy service to Acute and Emergency Care, including responsibility for the Emergency Departments and the Acute Assessment wards cross-site.
  • Lead and manage the Acute and Emergency Care pharmacy team.
  • Lead the development of policy, guidelines and protocols within Acute and Emergency Care.
  • Contribute to the management of the drugs budget for Acute and Emergency Care and the implementation of any drug savings.
Contract

This is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, adjusted to allow time for advertising, hiring and pre‑employment checks. The contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 12 months.

We welcome part‑time hours and flexible working and will consider your requirements if our service is able to accommodate. The Trust holds two corporate welcome events each month and you will start on one of these days to provide a seamless introduction to our Trust.

Our major sites are King George Hospital in Ilford and Queen’s Hospital in Romford, each less than 30 minutes from Central London.
