About the Role

Up to 80% of the post is clinical. You will work alongside middle‑grade colleagues under the oversight of the EM Consultant Team and support Foundation Year Two trainees, GPST, ST 1‑3 trainees and Clinical Fellows. Senior Clinical Fellows receive weekly protected teaching and education supervision from an EM consultant.

The successful candidate will ideally already have the skills and experience to take charge of the Emergency Department out of hours, with support from an on‑call consultant. As a minimum you will be in a position to develop these skills within 3 months of employment with the Trust.

You must have MRCEM or equivalent NHS experience.

Key Responsibilities

You will spend time working among your middle‑grade colleagues, supporting trainees and clinical fellows, and providing clinical care in the ED. You will take charge of the ED out of hours and lead the department with support from an on‑call consultant.

About the Emergency Department

The Emergency Department at St Peter’s is the largest and busiest department in Surrey, operating a 24‑hour service and seeing over 110,000 patients a year.

ED is divided into six sections: Ambulatory Majors, Trolleys / Low dependency, Majors / High dependency, RAT, Resuscitation, and ED Chairs. The division also covers Clinical Assessment Unit (CAU), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and oversees our relationship with the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) and the Psychiatric Liaison team.
