Job description
Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics ST4+ - Perm or FTC

Triple West Medical has been appointed by an NHS Trust based in the Essex region to help recruit a Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics ST4+ for a FTC or substantive position.

The NHS organisation is an integrated Trust providing community, acute and specialist care across a number of sites. With over 10,000 staff, they oversee a population of around 800,000 people, and are now looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Clinical Fellow in Paeds to join the well-established department.

The Unit has around 26 beds and a seven bedded Paeds Assessment Unit for triage assessment and treatment. The PAU has an annual throughput of approximately 4,000 children. On the Children's Ward, elective, emergency and day-stay surgery is accommodated, as well as medical emergency and day-stay admissions. There are three six bedded rooms, a four cot nursery divided into separate cubicles, and remaining beds are within side-rooms. There are several high dependency beds on the ward to enable sick children to be managed locally where possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Trainees will be expected to show qualities of leadership, but also to know their limitations and call for help and advice appropriately.
  • Trainees will also begin to work independently and be part of the middle grade on call rota.
  • Liaise between nurses, other junior doctors, patients, relatives, and senior medical staff.
  • Attend to the day to day management of day case, out-patient, and in-patients.
  • Attend and participate in ward rounds.
  • Attend general and specialist out-patient, diagnostic, and pre-assessment clinics.
  • Teach medical students as directed.
  • Supervise, monitor, and assist junior doctors.
  • Take part in rostered emergency work on middle grade rota.
  • Keep up-to-date with all administrative duties, including letters, results, and discharge summaries, as required.
  • Study for higher examinations and maintain continued professional development.
  • Undertake and assist in audit projects at various times throughout the rotations.
  • Attend weekly educational and multidisciplinary sessions.
  • Co-operate with members of the HR department when monitoring hours of work.
  • Attend induction in each hospital or new department.
  • Comply with all local policies, including dress code, annual, and study leave.

Our client is happy to issue Certificate of Sponsorships to suitably qualified overseas doctors, however, GMC registration and relevant experience are essential for this position.
