Job description

Overview

This is a non-grid training position in the Department of Gastroenterology and Nutrition for a period of 12 months. The job is one of four registrar-level responsibilities covering general gastroenterology and clinical nutrition. The position complements three other registrars attached to the Department of Gastroenterology and Nutrition (total of four registrars). The post supports inpatient and outpatient services provided by the department and rotates through responsibilities as described below.

Responsibilities

• On a rotational basis, provide inpatient and outpatient care of gastroenterology patients.
• Provide nutrition support for the trust, working in conjunction with the Nutrition Support and Intestinal Failure Team.
• Manage referrals from within and outside the trust.
• duties will differ slightly depending on the rotation.
• Cover the ward, attend outpatient clinics, and request patient investigations with decision support.
• Cover for other colleagues in their absence.

Normal working day consists of covering the department unit from 08:30 to 17:30.

The post holder will be expected to undertake duties on the ward and in outpatient clinics and to support colleagues as needed.

Hours and Remuneration

The post does not contribute to the trust-wide Hospital at Night rota but will contribute to the out-of-hours cover for the Gastroenterology / Hepatology rota, which is covered from 08:00 to 20:00 seven days per week. Out-of-hours work would be paid in addition to the basic salary.
