Job description
Overview

This post is an exciting opportunity for a doctor with UK experience at specialist trainee level and ideally with experience in Haematology to gain experience in clinical trials and stem cell donor care, supporting the Anthony Nolan Cell Collection Service hosted within the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH).

The postholder will be expected to play an active role in research and contribute to the management of patients in clinical trials. There will be the opportunity for independent audit and research and collaboration on these with the Anthony Nolan medical team.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake donor medical assessments including a thorough history and examination.
  • Review results and assess donor suitability for donation in discussion with the Anthony Nolan medical team before peripheral blood stem cell collection.
  • Support the apheresis nursing team caring for patients during the apheresis procedure and manage any severe or atypical complications.
  • Work alongside clinical fellows in the CRF, an advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) and apheresis nursing leads.
  • Act as the lead clinical fellow for the Cell Collection Centre, maintaining strong links with the Anthony Nolan Registry medical team based in London.
  • Collaborate on research and quality‑improvement projects with the Anthony Nolan medical team.
  • Attend and present at meetings as part of professional development.
  • Participate in clinical governance activities such as clinical audit, incident reporting, risk management, CPD and evidence‑based practice.
  • Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as required by the Trust.
  • Provide clinical care and management of patients and donors involved in trials relevant to the Anthony Nolan service and NUH trials requiring the cell‑collection centre.
Qualifications
  • Doctor with UK experience at specialist trainee level.
  • Ideally with experience in Haematology.
  • Ability to devote substantially the whole of the time to the duties of the post.
  • Commitment to professional development and quality improvement.
