A leading healthcare organization in Telford seeks a Clinical Coder and Scanner to accurately analyze and code patient records. The ideal candidate must interpret medical terminology and manage data quality while working closely with the team. Applicants should have a good standard of education, including GCSE mathematics, and experience in a general practice environment. This full-time role requires effective communication and organizational skills to support high standards of coding.
We are at an exciting period of our practices journey and we are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Coder and Scanner to join the team.
Hours will be 37.5 hours per week, working Monday - Friday, times to be agreed.
Interviews will be held on 19/01/26
To be shortlisted, you will need to have experienceinterpreting medical terminology and be able to accurately analyse and code onto patients medical record.
We provide services to over 50,000 patients, across 9sites with a team of dedicated staff. Our mission is to provide a service whichputs the welfare of our patients at the heart of all we do.
You must work well under pressure, with varying demandsof work throughout the day, which is all business critical and you need to havea good prioritisation skills and be organised in managing these.
Ensure you have IT skills including data quality, and areable to follow Teldocs data protection and confidentiality policies amongstothers at all times.
You must be able to communicate effectively; workingclosely with all Managers and departmental functions, with a strong team ethosand can-do attitude and bring a positive and significant contribution to theteam.
Accurately analyse, code and process patient information to ensure data is comparable over time for local and national use
To maintain and keep up to date data logs in computerised patient records
To maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner.
To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required.
To be able to prioritise workload
Organise daily workload efficiently so that personal coding targets are met and support the rest of the team in achieving high standards of coding completeness and accuracy within agreed timescales
Participate in the audit process, working closely with the Team Leaders
Implement all actions resulting from audit recommendations
Assist in the implementation of new initiatives affecting clinical coding and participate in planning of changes of work practice
Read, sort and distribute clinical correspondence such as discharge letters, outpatient reports, results etc. identifying the correct pathway in accordance with practice protocol.
Manage the workflow of incoming patient information, prioritising urgent work in accordance with practice protocol.
Utilise EMIS software to accurately file documents to patient records and progress work to other services/practitioners as appropriate.
To inform lead of possible data breaches
Any other duties commensurate with skills and responsibilities
