The Opportunity

Following a period of sustained growth and further investment in the major client segment we are interested in speaking with individuals who have the experience drive and ambition to join our Client Engagement Team and help build on this success and further develop QBE’s capabilities and proposition.

The team are responsible for leading all aspects of QBE’s relationship with some of our largest clients and prospects here in Europe and are a fundamental component of our value proposition.

As a Client Manager you will support the co‑ordination of a client management methodology across European Operations (EO) ensuring individual client needs are consistently met. You will assist with the development of value propositions / solutions across EO that address the varied needs and risks of our clients (new & existing) to ensure any engagement is supporting business risk and profitability criteria set by Divisional leadership.

Your new role

Manage own portfolio and demonstrate strong client engagement of identified EO clients coordinating internal stakeholders and ensuring implementation of a client engagement strategy.

  • Lead multi‑disciplined QBE teams in the planning development and execution of engagement strategies for identified clients, including
    • Chairing and participating in account planning meetings aligned to the agreed EO client management methodology
    • Ensuring client and broker communication is effective and supports the QBE strategy and objectives
    • Monitoring progress and performance towards achieving agreed objectives
    • Provide leadership in QBE’s bid process for new business renewals and jeopardy situations ensuring clear understanding of client and broker objectives, managing stakeholder involvement and maintaining communication.
    • Lead the creation of client reports and collateral articulating the QBE proposition.
    • Manage broker and client feedback, address requirements and issues and implement remedial actions.
    • Liaise with the Broker Distribution team to ensure consistent engagement with our Major Trading Partners.
    • Assist the Client Executives with more complex clients to gain experience in non‑conventional programmes, non‑standard structures differing QBE propositions.
    • Support the component parts of the Insurance Division acting as an advocate within QBE for strategic client initiatives and change programmes.
    • Assist with the creation and development of material and collateral for sales and marketing purposes.
    • Co‑ordinate, manage and/or participate in client forums, seminars & events aligned to EO strategy.
    • Establish a network of relationships across EO to facilitate efficient delivery of the agreed client management methodology, enhanced sharing of knowledge and information.
    • Actively participate in and contribute to ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives which support achievement of business goals.
    • Understand how the key insurance products underwritten by QBE operate and have an ability to articulate this with real‑life examples.
    • Actively undertake personal development to ensure up‑to‑date knowledge and skills.
    • When working alongside colleagues establish clear accountabilities and expectations for delegated tasks.

  • Experience working in a client‑facing role, ideally working with large clients from either an insurance or broking background.
  • High level of pace drive and positive energy to get the job done.
  • Strong engagement skills and actively looks to partner with colleagues at all levels.
  • Able to contribute to the development of strategies for the medium and long term.
  • Able to negotiate, persuade and influence both directly and indirectly.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including creative writing of reports.
