Clerk to Governors (Bognor Regis Campus)

Permanent, part-time, term-time only post.

Majority of the hours will be term-time only with an average of 140 hours a term.

We are seeking to recruit a Bognor Regis Campus, Clerk to the Governors. This will include The Regis School, Southway Primary School, their committees and the Campus Board. The successful candidate will provide effective administrative support to the governing body and its committees, and to the Campus Board, in order to manage information effectively, and in accordance with legal requirements.

This position involves attending the schools for meetings and also working flexibly from home.

  • The Regis School LGB typically meet four times a year, and fifteen committee meetings (3.30pm – 5.30pm)
  • Southway Primary School typically have seven LGB meetings a year (4.00pm – 6.00pm) and three committee meetings (time to be arranged).
  • The Campus Board four times a year (3.30pm – 5.30pm)

The clerk will be asked to undertake the following additional duties:

  • Clerk any statutory appeal committees/panels the governing body is required to convene
  • Clerk formal complaints processes
  • Minute and advise on Permanent Exclusion Hearings
  • Assist with parent and staff recruitment to the governing body
  • Participate in, and contribute to, the training of governors in areas appropriate to the clerking role
  • Maintain a file of relevant Department for Education (DfE), local authority guidance documents
  • Maintain archive materials
  • Prepare briefing papers for the governing body, as necessary
  • Conduct skills audits and advise on training requirements and the criteria for appointing new governors relevant to vacancies
  • Ensure all statutory and local policies are compliant
  • Perform such other tasks as may be determined by the governing body from time to time

The successful candidate will have a proven high standard of communication along with excellent ICT and organisational skills. Confidentiality is essential, as is the ability to be flexible and to work using your own initiative.
