Job summary

A regional education service provider in Ballymena is seeking a Cleaner to join their team. This role involves maintaining high cleaning standards across school premises. Ideal candidates will have at least three months of cleaning experience and knowledge of Health and Safety regulations. The position is permanent, offering 14.67 hours per week at a rate of £13.63 to £14.29 per hour.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three months’ experience in a cleaning role.
• Knowledge of the requirements of a School Cleaner.
• Understanding of Health and Safety requirements including COSHH.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop floors using appropriate equipment.
• Clean toilet and shower areas and fixtures.
• Dust ledges, walls, fixtures, and internal surfaces.

Job description

A Cleaner will undertake, as part of a team, the cleaning of any area within the premises, designated by the line manager.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, suction clean, mop, dry buff, spray clean, spray wax, machine scrub and dry, strip and re-polish floors using appropriate equipment.
• Clean and remove stains of soft floor surfaces (carpets/matting) using the appropriate cleaning method.
• Clean toilet and shower area including the fixtures and fittings.
• Clean, wash and dust ledges, walls, fixtures, fittings and internal surfaces up to 3.35M. Polishing furniture where appropriate.
• Empty and clean internal litter bins and remove litter to the designated collection points.

Skills and Qualifications

• Have a minimum of three months’ demonstrable working experience in a cleaning role.
• To meet the statutory obligations under Health and Safety legislation the successful applicant may be required to undertake training as necessary & provided by the EA cleaning service.
• Evidence of knowledge of: The requirements of a School Cleaner.
• Evidence of knowledge of: Cleaning methods / machinery.
• Evidence of knowledge of: Health and Safety requirements relevant to the role, including COSHH.
• One year’s experience of cleaning outside home environment.
• Demonstrable experience of using a range of commercial cleaning tools (e.g. buffing machinery).
