Job summary

The role requires strong experience in Goods in Transit and Marine claims, excellent client relationship management skills, and the ability to mentor junior team members. This full-time, permanent position offers a hybrid work model, with three days a week onsite in Colchester.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of Freight Forwarders Liability and CMR is advantageous.

Claims Executive

Barker Munro Recruitment are seeking an experienced Claims handler to join the Commercial insurance team of our client, a well-known Insurance broker. This is a full‑time, permanent position, with an average of 3 days per week onsite in Colchester.

About the Role
  • Manage the full claims process for a wide range of cases, including large, sophisticated, or contentious claims for brokerage clients
  • Advise on complex transit losses and investigate relevant case law and facts
  • Analyse claims data to identify trends, mitigate risk, and improve processes
  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a high‑performance culture
  • Build strong client relationships and represent the claims function with professionalism
  • Prepare and present reports and presentations
  • Visit clients after losses to investigate and drive robust, favourable claim outcomes
  • Negotiate with insurers to secure the best possible settlements
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong experience with Goods in Transit and Marine claims (essential)
  • Excellent client relationship management skills
  • Understanding of Freight Forwarders Liability and CMR (advantageous)
  • Analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities
  • Customer‑focused, independent, and resilient under pressure
