Job description

The role of the PPP is to help deliver a 20‑year pipeline of major infrastructure projects as quickly and safely as possible, creating new facilities that allow Sellafield to treat, manage and store waste safely for decades to come. We are now recruiting for Civil & Structural Engineers to work on a number of projects.

Responsibilities

• Production of calculation packages, CS&A documents and input into multi‑discipline documents (Reports, calculations, BoD, PFS etc.)
• Structural substantiation of building elements (change of loading / area usage) e.g. concrete / steel structures / pipebridges etc.
• Development of optimised, balanced, and practical design solutions balancing aspects of safety and environmental performance, operational effectiveness and constructability.
• Ensure that the design meets all functional, safety and environmental requirements and is integrated with other design disciplines and preserves the design intent.
• Stakeholder liaison / design team engagement / meeting attendance.
• Production of CDM Risk Assessments.
• Engage with the CS&A Responsible Engineer and collaborate with Safety and other engineering disciplines to meet project objectives and milestones.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with the IStructE or ICE (preferred)
• Experienced in the static and seismic design of concrete (to ACI 318), steel and masonry structures.
• Proficient in the use of Tedds and Staad Pro (advantage)
• At least 4 years of experience in relevant project design work
• General all‑round civil and structural design experience required, with experience working on alterations and modifications to existing structures, and nuclear new build projects.
• Experience of working within a highly regulated industry.
• Evidence of design capability working as part of a multi‑discipline team.
