Job Description


Established in 2020 Ruski Engineering Design Pty Ltd (Ruski) specialises in the design of custom industrial equipment specialising in lifting and materials handling equipment, plant, mobile and fixed access platforms and mechanical testing. Core services include 3D Scanning, mechanical and structural design, drafting and reverse engineering. We have secured a range of projects and work with clients including BHP, Newmont, Karara Mining, Rio Tinto.


We are seeking a Civil Engineering Technician to join our small and growing team, with 3D scanning experience, to contribute to the business. This role is a full‑time permanent position based in Welshpool, Western Australia.


Responsibilities


  • Assisting the engineering team in designing mechanical and structural equipment to meet customer specifications and/or Australian standards.

  • Consulting and engaging with stakeholders directly to finalise scope of work.

  • Working with stakeholders and engineering team to develop a solution through conceptual and detailed engineering design using 3D modelling and scanning techniques and software (including but not limited to Microstation, SolidWorks, Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD and ReCap Pro).

  • Producing structural drawings including fabrication shop detailing, design and drafting services, and laser cutting.

  • Designing and analysing industrial equipment specifically in lifting, access platforms and mechanical and structural plants.

  • Undertaking 3D scanning tasks.

  • Client site visits; measuring, concept and detailed designs, delivering fabrication drawings.

  • Performing structural analysis in Space Gass and hand calculations.

  • Working within project deadlines and budgets.

  • Managing a portfolio of projects.

  • Providing timely feedback to management on project progress.

  • Providing support and technical assistance to customers/fabricators on design issues or queries.

  • Updating and modifying existing designs and/or drawings if required.


Qualifications


  • Tertiary education in Civil Engineering.

  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Civil Engineering Technician.

  • Minimum 1 year experience with structural analysis software including Space Gass.

  • Minimum 1 year experience in SolidWorks software.

  • Minimum 1 year experience in Microstation, Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD and ReCap Pro.

  • Experience with 3D scanning, processing and modelling is essential.

  • Minimum 1 year experience in Geomagic Suite software Wrap and ControlX.

  • Minimum 1 year experience in 3D Scan point cloud processing (Faro Scene 2019 or similar).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong knowledge of Australian standards and steel fabrication.

  • High attention to detail and passion for excellence.

  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage project stakeholders.

  • Self‑motivated, honest, displays integrity and reliability.
