Job Title: Children's Residential Home Manager

Reference: Bradford 5284385

Pay rate: £321.29 per day PAYE

Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 3 months

Working Arrangement: Post holder must be able to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays as required by the needs of the service. All on site.

Enhanced DBS required for this role.

Role Summary

On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Children's Residential Home Manager to ensure a local Children's Home meets all requirements of the National Children’s Home Regulations (2015), Children’s Homes Quality Standards (2015), and Ofsted expectations. You will be responsible for achieving and maintaining Ofsted ratings of Good or Outstanding. You will manage the Children’s Home staff team, providing leadership, supervision and training, ensuring all practice follows internal policies and procedures, and overseeing delivery of services that support positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee dynamic care plans for children with complex needs, focusing on trauma, attachment issues and emotional challenges; identify therapeutic or specialist support required.
  • Lead safeguarding efforts, ensuring the safety and well‑being of children, act as the designated safeguarding lead and coordinate actions if children go missing.
  • Ensure the home meets the Quality Standards and Children’s Homes Regulations (2015), aiming for "good" or "outstanding" ratings from Ofsted; manage Regulation 44 visits and inspections.
  • Manage staff training, supervision and development to meet young people's needs; conduct appraisals, ensure training is up to date and recruit/retain staff.
  • Oversee staff in meeting children's physical, emotional and educational needs, including managing challenging behaviour and providing trauma‑informed care.
  • Become a qualified Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) trainer to teach staff how to manage challenging behaviour, ensuring the team is TCI trained.
  • Monitor staff performance, addressing any issues of conduct or behaviour that fall short of professional standards; handle complaints and investigations.
  • Ensure the physical environment is safe, secure, and well‑maintained; oversee daily tasks like shopping, cleaning, and personal care for children, ensuring a high standard of living.
Qualifications
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services with Children and Young People’s Residential Management Pathway or equivalent.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
  • NVQ Level 4 Leadership and Management for Care Services.
Experience
  • Within the last 5 years, worked at least 2 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children.
  • At least 1 year in a role requiring the supervision and management of staff working in a care role (posses mainly or solely of providing care for children).
  • Experience of care planning and quality assurance commensurate with the Registered Manager role.
  • Substantial experience of direct work with children and young people and their families.
  • Experience of quality assurance processes and systems.
