Qualifications

  • 6 months experience in a relevant role within the last 2 years.
  • Enhanced DBS certification is required.
  • Up-to-date training in moving and handling and safeguarding.

Location: Cambourne, Cornwall
Salary: £13.68 - £17 per hour
Contract: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 15:00 - ongoing requirement

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Children Health Care Assistant to support young children with complex medical needs within a secondary school environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the children's health, safety, and well-being during the school day.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with relevant clinical experience who is passionate about supporting young children in an educational setting.

Your duties will include the following:

  • Supporting children with Autism, ADHD, and medical/physical needs
  • Assisting children in science-based learning activities and classroom engagement
  • Providing 1:1 or group support tailored to individual learning plans
  • Helping with sensory regulation and behaviour support strategies
  • Ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Liaising with teaching staff and healthcare professionals
  • Monitoring health indicators (e.temperature, pulse, respiration)
  • Supporting children with feeding and nutritional needs
  • Promoting comfort, wellbeing, and emotional support
  • Accurate documentation of care and observations
  • Supporting therapy, play, and development sessions
Essential Requirements:
  • 6 months experience in the last 2 years
  • No sponsorships provided
  • Competency and training in:
    • Nebuliser use
    • Tube feeding
    • Supporting physiotherapy
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Up-to-date moving and handling and safeguarding training
  • A caring, professional, and proactive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
  • Previous experience working in a school or with young children
  • Knowledge of SEN or experience working in a special educational needs environment
