An award winning and rapidly expanding UK Renewable Energy business is seeking a Chief Sales Officer (CSO). They are based in North East England, however they are open to both hybrid and remote working options.

Reporting into the CEO you will drive growth, further develop their sales strategy, lead and grow the sales team and report on progress to the board. This is a hands on sales role, in which you develop and close new business, as well as will lead and manage the sales team, develop the sales strategy, deliver regular board reports and work with the rest of the C-Suite to maximise growth and long term success.

Duties include:

  • Implement and evolve the GTM strategy, internal sales team structures, sales processes and work with marketing to maximise impact.
  • Lead business development, securing new clients and maximise opportunities with existing clients.
  • Responsibility for overall delivery of their sales targets.
  • Building successful relationships across the business, maximising cohesion ensuring clients receive excellent customer service.
  • Reporting monthly KPIs to the CEO.
  • Manage, support, monitor and grow the sales function, ensuring the team are motivated and successful.

Candidates MUST have:

  • Proven track record in a sales leadership role, both in a business development and a people management capacity.
  • Experience selling B2B technical solutions, ideally in the renewable energy space.
  • Demonstrable experience of hitting your sales targets and successfully growing sales teams.
  • Proven track record of selling products within a lengthy and complicated decision-making process.
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills, adept in controlling the sales process, liaising with senior stakeholders and managing multi million pound deals.
  • Ability to operate at senior leadership level, influence and engage colleagues and work collaboratively to reach successful outcomes.

Desirable are:

  • Engineering experience, either commercial or academic is preferred.
  • Sales experience with renewable energy gas, fuel cell, climate technology or hydrogen.
  • Experience working in a fast growing business, growing a sales team and supporting it scale.
  • Experience selling in an equipment hire or leasing model.

The successful candidate will join an extremely exciting, award winning business that has significant investment and is experiencing continued expansion. You will receive a highly competitive basic salary based on experience, equity, personal and team commission, up to 25% bonus and 8% pension, plus a broad range of extra benefits.
