A healthcare organisation based in London is looking for a Chief Executive to lead strategic initiatives and ensure the delivery of high-quality care. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial stewardship, governance, and community engagement. Strong leadership skills and experience in healthcare are essential. The Chief Executive is responsible for the leadership of the organisation and for implementing its strategic goals and objectives as established by the IGPF Board. To build on IGPFs strong foundations and shape a credible organisation able to adapt and evolve within the changing healthcare landscape and able to engage on equal terms with established providers. To engage democratically and inclusively with members in the development and implementation of the strategy of the organisation, ensuring that the vision of the Board is interpreted into appropriate policies and procedures to deliver high quality care to promote health and wellbeing and prevent illness. Ensure financial management and clinical and corporate governance systems are in place and are sufficiently robust to enable the organisation to meet its objectives and report on the quality of care and performance, in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
The role focuses on leading the development of the organisation in all key areas such as operations, productivity, efficiency, analytics and commercial growth. To develop and maintain robust business planning processes to ensure the Company is sustainable and the board is notified of any risks through robust reporting systems. To ensure production of the Company’s annual report and accounts in time for the AGM and in line with statutory requirements Commercial Development and Partnerships Recommend to the IGPF Board, budgets and financial plans, based on efficient, effective and equitable use of resources and deliver them once agreed. Examine all service developments, investments and major capital expenditure proposed by the organisation, and its associated partnership ventures.
The Chief Executive will build strong relationships with other partner organisations (including GP partners and practices, commissioners, regulators, health and social care partners) and with patients, carers and their families to meet the needs of the population it serves, and to lead innovation and improvement across the system. The post holder will contribute to the development of the evolving health and care system as required representing the organisations interests externally as well as maintaining a sound market awareness and assess potential new business opportunities as they arise. To develop close working relationships with shareholding practices, becoming familiar with issues affecting general practice within Islington and beyond and striving for excellent communication and engagement with all practices. To develop, draft and submit credible bids for service provision either as a single organisation or in partnership with other providers where appropriate.
The CEO will co-ordinate and plan key projects, liaising with appropriate internal personnel, Directors and external partners to ensure successful completion. To work with education leads to develop educational opportunities for GPs and other practice staff in accordance with the directions agreed by the board of directors. Ensure the organisation regularly reviews its strategic and operational risks and determines its risk appetite and manages its resources and activities accordingly. People and Culture Promote a culture in which staff feel free to speak up, raise concerns, suggest improvements and challenge poor behaviour and standards in line with IGPFs values.
To ensure the appropriate line management, supervision and appraisal of staff, facilitating identification of their learning and development needs and ensuring management accountability and high-level performance. Promote and maintain workforce systems and practices which meet the requirements of external quality standards e.g. CQC and internal governance requirements including pre-employment registration checks and records, statutory training, grievance and disciplinary etc. Continue seeking new ways of adopting and adapting digital techniques both in serving patients and improving management.
Promote sustainability and the most environmentally friendly use of resources. To ensure appropriate and statutory training is taking place at all levels within the Company and that statutory requirements are met and good practice followed with regard to Health and Safety matters in the company, and strive to ensure that all staff avoid or manage risks. Company Management and governance To assimilate and understand the Company’s Memorandum and Articles of Association. To prepare for, attend and contribute to directors’ meetings and to ensure that the board of directors are fully informed of all important issues and supplied with agendas, minutes and background information in good time.
To become familiar with all legal requirements of companies and ensure that all statutory returns and notices are filed by the due dates in accordance with the articles of association. This will include but is not necessarily limited to: annual directors’ report, annual accounts and the company’s annual return. To ensure retention of all Company records, including accounts, reports and minutes of meetings is compliant with legislation. To ensure governance procedures are in place and followed with respect to work that is sub-contracted to other providers.
To support the implementation of systems and procedures to evaluate and audit the effectiveness of all areas, including the quality of the provision of patient care, in order to develop and monitor a plan to continually improve the performance of the company and to meet the standards of any accreditation processes. To continuously promote the company through positive Public Relations and marketing. To ensure development and maintenance of robust complaints management and incident reporting systems that comply with statutory requirements and ensuring learning is identified and appropriate changes implemented.
