The Opportunity

We’re looking for a visionary, high-energy Chief Commercial Officer to join our Executive Leadership Team, playing a critical role in driving growth at Cazoo. This individual will be a highly visible ambassador of the brand, both externally and internally.

This role is about more than hitting targets. The CCO is the architect of our future, leading a commercial strategy as the UK automotive industry undergoes a period of significant change. This role is not about managing a sales funnel, it''s about redefining how we engage with customers, aggressively optimising revenue streams, and partnering with dealers to position Cazoo as a dominant force in the UK’s evolving automotive space.

Reporting directly to the CEO and active on the Executive Leadership Team, the CCO will take ownership of the entire commercial engine (Sales, Commercial Operations, and Partnerships). More than a commercial leader, they will be the red thread throughout the business, a dynamic force for change and the ultimate orchestrator of strong partnerships, ensuring absolute alignment and innovation across all functions to drive commercially important opportunities.

We’re looking for a unique commercial leader, someone who balances the grit of traditional automotive experience with the agility of a tech executive. They are as strategic as they are hands on.

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Richmond, SW London (Hybrid)

The CCO will play a key role in the formulation and execution of our strategy to be the clear number two in UK automotive. We’re looking for an impactful commercial leader to take ownership of our entire commercial engine. We need someone with a hands-on, operator mindset and proven track record of driving commercial performance in fast-paced, tech-driven environments.

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and executing transformational revenue and operations strategies to improve customer engagement. This includes the ability to translate strategic vision into measurable metrics and effectively influence internal and external stakeholders - including shareholders - through storytelling. A strong leader who role models fearless and dynamic behaviours, with experience coaching heads of department to maximise individual and team potential.

Operational Responsibilities
  • Sales and Revenue Management: Lead the sales function, manage budgets and forecasts, and oversee all dealer and partner revenue streams to ensure high commercial performance and sustainable growth.

Operational Efficiency

  • Develop and implement systems, processes, and automation initiatives (including overseeing CRM, sales forecasting and funnel analytics) to drive efficiencies and increase self-service.

Customer Improvements

  • Identify friction points in the customer and team sales journey, and partner with Product and Technology to automate manual sales tasks and increase efficiency.

Reporting & Planning

  • Exceptional executional focus to achieve and exceed business OKRs. Leads the commercial reporting process, pulling insights from numbers to drive business decisions.

  • Drive accountability for the commercial budget and resource allocation across sales and commercial operations.

Strategic Responsibilities
  • Market Insights: Ensure that the business is aware of market and customer trends to help prioritise development areas so that we can become a true industry leader.

Commercial Growth Strategy

  • Lead commercial growth strategies in alignment with the CEO and Board to steer the business to the next chapter of growth.

  • Continuously test pricing elasticity to maximise revenue opportunities, owning the evolution of our pricing models.

  • Identify and commercially validate new opportunities and monetisation models.

  • Partner with Product and Technology to deliver products that drive commercial impact.

External Responsibilities

  • Be a thought leader for the automotive industry, someone that people look to for insights and direction.

  • Be visible with high value customers and key partners to build Cazoo’s profile, and collect valuable insights to inform the company plans.

  • Identify new opportunity areas through engagement with external partners.

  • Be a spokesperson for the business, representing the company at industry events, news and other media outlets.

Leadership and Culture

Strong emotional intelligence

  • Understands how to bring different perspectives together for a common outcome in a positive way.

Fearless & Dynamic

  • Embodies our fearless and dynamic culture by taking informed risks, moving fast, learning from mistakes and treating setbacks as opportunities to grow, not reasons to slow down.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Motivate and lead large cross-functional teams, inspiring change even when challenges are extremely complex, and solutions can be unclear.

  • Build and strengthen the sales, operations and partnerships leadership team. Take our teams to new heights by ensuring our culture reaches all levels within the sales and operations organisation and translates into behaviour that drives the business to success.

What you’ll bring
  • Marketplace in your DNA. You possess an irrefutable track record of delivering commercial results within a two-sided marketplace or platform business.

  • Proven adoption of AI tools to boost performance & accelerate commercial results, e.g. AI skills in data analysis/forecasting, coaching/enablement (e.g. using tools for call analysis & feedback), automation, and personalisation, all focusing on driving revenue, improving customer engagement, and building competitive advantage.

  • An Ops-first mindset. You don''t just hire more salespeople to solve a problem; you look at process, automation, and efficiency first.

  • Commercial acumen and systems thinking. Highly comfortable consuming analysis to inform strategic direction. Must possess a proven track record of building scalable commercial systems that consistently deliver performance.

  • Experience scaling commercial teams through transitional periods of change.

  • Agility: Marketplaces move fast. The ability to pivot is critical in this environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a Private Equity-backed or high-growth environment, driving accelerated commercial results with disciplined cost management.

  • Exceptional storytelling, communication, and Board-level influence.

  • Experience building and scaling high-performing, accountable teams.

  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous scale-up environment, balancing hands-on execution with strategic vision.

A Fearless, dynamic leadership style that drives accountability, innovation, and results.
