Chemist (Outdoor-Based)

Location – West Midlands (two locations)

Sector – Chemistry

Salary – £25,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience & interview performance)

Employment – Full time, permanent role

Do you have a working or academic background in chemistry? Are you comfortable working outdoors in a non-lab-based role? We are currently offering the opportunity for a new chemist to join an environmental-based company in the West Midlands. Our client is seeking a hard-working and engaging individual to join their team.

This role is suitable for either graduates or experienced professionals within chemistry.

IMPORTANT: This role will involve alternating morning, evening, and night shifts.

It will also involve working outdoors and some physical lifting. Please ensure that you are happy with this type of role before applying.

The Role

As a Chemist, you will be responsible for:

  • Receiving, inspecting, and separating deliveries of hazardous chemicals,
  • Accurately completing and maintaining delivery documentation,
  • Loading and unloading delivery lorries,
  • Operating waste processing equipment.
Current / Recent Experience Required

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • A chemistry-related degree (BSc / MSc / MChem / HND) or working experience in a chemistry-based role (essential).
  • Prior experience handling hazardous chemicals at a hazardous chemical transfer station or chemical treatment plant (desirable).
Profile Required:
  • Able to relocate / commute to the West Midlands (essential).
  • Happy to work outdoors in a role which involves manual labour (essential).
  • Existing UK work eligibility – visa sponsorship cannot be offered for this position (essential).
  • Happy to work occasional night shifts (essential).
