Job description
Chef Supervisor – Role Overview

DSFS are recruiting a full‑time Chef‑Supervisor to work 37.5 hours per week in Café at the Royal, at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Key Benefits
  • Full NEST pension – pay 5% or 8% and DSFS will match.
  • 40% premium for any hours worked after 8pm and before 6am Monday‑Friday and for Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays.
  • Working pattern Monday to Friday 7am – 3pm.
Main Duties
  • Oversee kitchen operations, preparing high‑quality meals and managing kitchen staff to ensure an exceptional dining experience.
  • Create and develop menus using seasonal ingredients, ensuring dishes are cost effective and nutritious.
  • Work as part of a team. Issue instructions calmly. Keep calm under pressure.
  • Ensure full compliance with Food Safety Guidelines and all local regulations.

Person Specification – Qualifications
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to undertake.
  • GCSE level or equivalent (including Maths and English).
  • Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate (essential).
  • Good knowledge of food safety, HACCP and food safety regulations.
  • Experience in a similar role – ability to work on own initiative and make menu decisions.
  • Excellent communication, customer care and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Experience with food allergens, special diets and labelling.
  • Menu planning and allergen awareness (desirable).
  • Knowledge of NHS guidance (desirable).
Desirable Experience

Experience within a commercial or retail catering operation.
