Job summary

A retirement community in Windsor is seeking an experienced Chef to join their culinary team in a part-time capacity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service management and be able to create traditional meals, including a roast dinner. Responsibilities include menu planning and ensuring food safety standards are maintained. This role offers a pay of £16.48 per hour with approximately 19 hours expected weekly.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in bartending or hospitality roles is an advantage but not mandatory.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Chef to join our culinary team in a part time role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in a small kitchen, and be able to work independently, serving between 15 and 30+ meals in a service, and up to 50+ in a team at an event. They must have good knowledge of food service management, including menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen management. The Chef will play a crucial role in creating memorable dining experiences for our homeowners while maintaining efficient kitchen operations. They must also be able to create an amazing traditional roast dinner.

Hours

Saturdays: - 3
Sundays: 10 - 3
Mondays: 4 - 8
Tuesdays: 4 - 8

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all food safety procedures are strictly followed according to sanitary regulations
  • Maintain safe working conditions
  • Follow company policies and procedures regarding the handling of cash, property, products and equipment
  • Order products as necessary
  • Planning menus in consultation with management
  • Ensuring that health and safety regulations are strictly observed, recorded and archived
  • Monitoring the quality of the product and service provided
  • Will be cooking a traditional Brunch, a Roast Dinner, and then 2 specials or A La Carte evenings.
Experience
  • Proven experience in catering to the 55+ age group would be an advantage.
  • Able to cook both traditional dishes, and have a flair for experimentation.
  • Strong background in food service management, including supervisory roles within a kitchen environment.
  • Experience in menu planning, inventory management, and catering services is desired.

About Castle View

Castle View is a retirement development in the heart of Windsor’s residential community. There are 64 one, two and ‘three bedroom’ apartments designed for people over 55 years old who wish to live independently.

The community facilities ensure that residents have privacy when they wish, but can also enjoy the benefits of socialising with like-minded people. Homeowners can enjoy a lounge and a Bistro / Restaurant in which coffee, tea and meals are served, and events are run periodically. This area, and the adjacent 24/7 reception, are run by the Castle View in‑house team who will ensure that all services and facilities are operated to a high standard.
