Job description

Berties, a popular neighbourhood eatery in Claygate, is looking for a capable and self-reliant chef to take charge of our compact kitchen and keep the quality we’re known for humming along smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Run the kitchen solo during service, prepping and cooking a concise, fresh menu to consistently high standards.
• Plan and manage stock, including ordering, rotation and minimising waste.
• Maintain and care for kitchen equipment, scheduling routine checks and arranging repairs when needed.
• Uphold all food-safety and cleanliness standards, completing daily/weekly records.

What we’re looking for

• Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety certificate (essential).
• Solid experience in a similar role and the confidence to work independently.
• Good organisational skills and a calm head when service gets busy.
• A genuine passion for great, fuss-free food and friendly customer interaction.

Pay & hours

• Hourly rate: competitive and commensurate with experience.
• Flexible shift pattern; typical week includes days, some evenings and alternate weekends.
