Job Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff and delivering acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included. We are looking to recruit a full‑time band 6 Charge Nurse for the busy Renal Dialysis Unit located within Stobhill Hospital.

The unit is open Monday – Saturday and the shifts are worked as long days.

Responsibilities

You will be expected to deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse in their absence and lead the nursing team, coordinate and direct care within the dialysis unit.

As Charge Nurse you will provide clinical leadership for the assessment of patients’ needs, and the implementation and evaluation of programmes of care which are evidence‑based. A high degree of clinical expertise will be evident with the ability to work to high‑quality clinical standards, be flexible, forward‑thinking and able to work effectively within a changing and dynamic environment.

Qualifications

To be considered you must be a registered nurse on the NMC Register, possess at least 5 years renal nursing experience, be educated to graduate level and have evidence of ongoing professional development. Excellent communication and sound decision‑making skills are essential.

Pre‑employment checking of NMC registration and PVG scheme membership/disclosure Scotland check are required before the start date.
