Cash Officer – Exchequer Finance Assistant

About the Role

Somerset Council is looking for a Cash Officer – Exchequer Finance Assistant to join thier Cashiers Team. This role supports the council’s finance operations by ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.

Key Duties
  • Process financial transactions (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cashiering, Master Data).
  • Act as a local contact for finance/admin queries, providing advice to staff, suppliers, and customers.
  • Administer financial schemes (Purchasing Cards, Petty Cash, Construction Industry Scheme, controlled stationery).
  • Monitor compliance with corporate finance processes and standards.
  • Contribute to the development of finance systems and processes (Dynamics D365, Income Management System).
  • Help solve problems with financial systems, procedures, and reporting, including testing new processes.
  • Maintain accurate records across finance systems (D365, IMS, spreadsheets).
  • Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, health, safety, and wellbeing in all aspects of work.
