Contract Caretaker – Melksham, Wiltshire

Elementa Support Services is pleased to partner with a valued education organisation to find a dedicated Contract Caretaker for their secondary academy in Melksham, Wiltshire. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a well-established school committed to providing a high-quality learning environment for its students.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join their dedicated facilities team on a contract basis. The role commences in January 2026, with the potential for extension, providing stability and continuity within a supportive school setting.

Role Responsibilities
  • General maintenance and upkeep of school premises, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for pupils and staff
  • Security management, including opening and closing the site, monitoring access, and ensuring security protocols are followed
  • Health and safety compliance, conducting regular checks and reporting any issues promptly
  • Assisting with minor repairs and maintenance tasks as required
  • Supporting the external and internal cleanliness and organisation of the site
Candidate Profile
  • Previous experience as a Caretaker, ideally within an educational setting or similar facility‑managed environment
  • A demonstrated commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, security, and presentation
  • Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem‑solving
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently as needed

  • Start Date: January 2026
  • Salary: £13.69 – £17 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications
  • Type: Contract (possible extension)
  • Environment: Academy‑Secondary, with a team of 36‑65 staff members
