Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience ideal for morning cook role.
• Experience in catering within a customer-focused environment.
• Strong work ethic, high personal work standards, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of relevant food safety legislation and dietary requirements.
• Level 2 food hygiene qualification ideal but not essential; full training provided.
• Flexibility to cover annual leave for afternoon/night shifts.
• Immediate start required.

• Provide coverage for day shifts and be flexible.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Cash handling, using a till and card machine.
• Prepping salads and sandwiches.
• Washing up and maintaining kitchen cleanliness.
• Serving breakfast and drinks to customers.
• Accepting deliveries and putting food away.
• Cleaning the kitchen after cooking meals, ensuring prep areas are cleaned and sanitised at the end of each shift.
• Comply with food hygiene standards, completing relevant checks and maintaining records.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain a high standard of hygiene.
• Undertake deep cleans of the kitchen and all preparation and storage areas.
• Observe cleanliness and safety standards in the work area, including proper handling and cleaning of equipment, utensils, dishes and workstations.
• Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures and rotate stock.
• Prepare and cook full English breakfast for customers, covering the morning cook shift.
• Work independently on occasions and supportively as part of a team to achieve canteen objectives.
• Maintain a high understanding of dietary requirements and relevant legislation.
• Provide coverage for day shift (25 hours – Monday to Friday, 7am‑12pm) and be flexible to cover other shifts if needed.
