CAD Technician

A leading live event infrastructure and production company is seeking a skilled CAD Technician to join their dynamic team. Specialising in bespoke staging, temporary structures, and full-scale event solutions, this company works across festivals, sporting events, ceremonies, brand activations, and more – delivering exceptional experiences for globally recognised clients.

About The Role

As a CAD Technician, you'll be instrumental in transforming creative concepts into precise technical drawings that support the design and delivery of high-profile live events. From stage layouts and grandstands to site plans and rigging elements, your work will help bring ambitious ideas to life while ensuring safety, feasibility, and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and other design software.
  • Translate concept sketches and technical briefs into accurate plans for event infrastructure.
  • Revise and update drawings based on feedback from production, engineering, and site teams.
  • Collaborate with project managers to understand spatial and structural requirements.
  • Prepare documentation for planning applications, build manuals, and health & safety compliance.
  • Maintain drawing standards and manage CAD file archives.
  • Conduct site visits to verify measurements and conditions.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and regulations related to temporary structures.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D & 3D); knowledge of SketchUp, Vectorworks, Inventor is a plus.
  • Experience creating technical drawings in events, construction, or entertainment sectors.
  • Strong understanding of spatial planning and temporary installations.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and site constraints.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable
  • Experience with live events or staging systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations (e.g. CDM, temporary works).
  • Ability to interpret third-party technical drawings.
  • Qualification in CAD design, architecture, engineering, or related field.
