The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Cable / Harness Design Engineer to serve as the focal point for drawing approvals and first‑of‑builds within the Interconnects team. The role involves interpreting cable harness assembly drawings and technical documentation, ensuring alignment between documentation and physical assembly, and facilitating robust manufacturing instructions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define cable assembly construction based on electrical constraints such as current, shielding, signal types, voltage drop, EMC and environmental requirements
- Apply production/process engineering knowledge to cable assembly design
- Collaborate with mechanical and electronic design engineers to deliver robust cable assembly solutions
- Act as technical interface to manufacturing, providing drawing approvals and first‑of‑build support
- Communicate effectively with all relevant stakeholders
- Travel to other locations, including internationally, as required
- Ensure compliance with military Defence Standards and D38999 connector specifications (highly desirable)
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing or engineering within cable harness design or related field
- Strong attention to detail and understanding of the relationship between technical documentation and physical hardware
- Self‑motivated, methodical, logical approach with a willingness to learn and progress
- Strong communication skills for regular electrical support among stakeholders
- Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally
- Minimum requirement: British Citizen or dual UK national with capability to achieve security clearance (BPSS and higher)
