Job Overview

As a Buyer, you will utilise professional procurement practices to obtain goods and services critical to the delivery of our products. Your efforts will support the seamless integration of these products into our customers' working plants by ensuring high quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of purchased items and services. You will take ownership of projects from a Supply Chain perspective, developing strong supplier relationships and maximising commercial advantages in line with our quality programs and initiatives. This role is ideal for someone eager to tackle new challenges, expand technical and interpersonal capabilities, and grow through a variety of exciting projects.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain production, material, inventory, and purchase plans to support the master schedule.
  • Plan deliveries by managing supplier lead times and customer needs while meeting inventory targets.
  • Track purchase order status, resolve past‑due orders, and correct invoicing or supply issues.
  • Maintain master data integrity including item masters and BOMs.
  • Liaise with commercial teams regarding delivery and availability.
  • Oversee MRP and collaborate with the Manchester purchasing team.
  • Lead competitive sourcing and low‑value purchase negotiations.
  • Participate in cost, inventory, and lead‑time reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor service levels and quality of incoming products.
  • Coordinate material planning and forecasting with inter‑company teams.
  • Expedite inter‑company orders to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Investigate and implement VMI opportunities.
  • Liaise with overseas vendors and research new markets, products, and processes.
  • Attend meetings and communicate actionable items for project completion.
  • Ensure timely issuance of project documentation.
Additional Duties
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in work areas.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Support cross‑functional teams as required.
  • Plan and organise personal workload effectively.
Essential Qualifications
  • Experience with solid knowledge of methods and processes.
  • Understanding of manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, machining, and inspection techniques.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., "JDE").
  • Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and documents.
  • Strong negotiation and critical path management skills.
Desirable Qualifications
  • APICS or MCIPS certification.
  • Experience in a project‑based environment.
  • Background in industrial mixing applications.
  • Knowledge of Machinery, PED, and ATEX Directives.
