We have a great opportunity for a Materials Buyer to join our team within Vistry South East Midlands, at our office in Enderby, Leicestershire. Together with our buying team, the materials buyer will be responsible for working on numerous Housing and Retirement Village Schemes throughout the South East Midlands Region, involving predominately procurement of materials packages.

Previous experience and knowledge of procurement within the Housing Sector is essential

A background in working within a commercial team

Good commercial awareness

An understanding of building regulations and legal obligations

Good knowledge of construction methods and materials

Good interpersonal skills, particularly in negotiating

Strong mathematical and IT ability. Good working knowledge of Microsoft office packages

Knowledge / experience of using COINS or similar is advantageous but not essential as training will be provided

Ability to assess and analyse information

Good communication skills

Good teamworking skills

Placement of Material Orders in accordance with budget, specification, and programme constraints whilst also adhering to our group deal requirements wherever possible.

The above will include creation of material tender lists, producing enquiry packages, negotiating best price, and comparing returned tenders

Liaise with our Group Supply Chain, managing and developing supplier relationships, whilst promoting the best interests of Vistry Group.

Review potential gaps in supply chain / risks.

Manage preferred and approved supplier lists.

KPI review and reporting.

Assisting procurement manager in providing supplier package information relevant to other departments, including Group, as and when may be required.

Production of buying reports detailing profit / loss against allowance.

Procurement Schedule management and upkeep on relevant sites.

Obtaining and providing data for sustainability reporting to relevant parties.

Carrying out value engineering exercises against specified suppliers

Inform procurement manager of any occasions where loss of rebate may occur.

Attend hand over meetings for new schemes.

Any other reasonable buying department related tasks as directed by procurement manager or referred to in the Buying Procedures Manual.
