Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a relevant music‑industry role (finance, business management, touring finance, or artist management).
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, AAT) or actively studying.
  • Strong understanding of accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks Online) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Leadership experience, including mentoring junior staff.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem‑solving ability.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with people at different levels.
  • Proactive, self‑motivated, and commercially minded.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and resilience in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of music‑industry clients and acting as their primary point of contact.
  • Preparing financial statements, management accounts, and tour profit & loss accounts.
  • Overseeing day‑to‑day bookkeeping activities.
  • Advising clients on financial and tax implications, UK VAT, and accounting principles.
  • Mentoring and supervising junior staff, reviewing work, and providing feedback for development.
  • Liaising confidently with artists, agents, managers, promoters, and external partners.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and taxation regulations.
  • Continuously improving processes and offering proactive solutions.

Senior Business Manager

Sopher + Co is looking for a Senior Business Manager to join our Mayfair office. This role is ideal for someone with experience in the music industry who wants to manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring their varied needs are met while delivering high-quality financial and business management services. You will report to the Business Services Manager, Director, or Partner, and play a key role in mentoring and supporting junior staff. It offers an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise in music‑industry finance and business management while maintaining strong client relationships.

Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing a portfolio of music‑industry clients and acting as their primary point of contact.
  • Preparing financial statements, management accounts, and tour profit & loss accounts.
  • Overseeing day‑to‑day bookkeeping activities, including processing payments, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Advising clients on financial and tax implications, UK VAT, and accounting principles.
  • Mentoring and supervising junior staff, reviewing work, and providing feedback for development.
  • Liaising confidently with artists, agents, managers, promoters, and external partners.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and taxation regulations.
  • Continuously improving processes and offering proactive solutions for clients and the team.
About You

We are looking for someone with exceptional interpersonal skills, financial literacy, and a proactive approach. You will be highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

You will also have:
