Job Title: Business Development Manager - Commercial Boilers
Industry Sector: Commercial boilers, pumps, flues, heat exchanges, plant rooms, wall hung boilers, floor standing modular boilers, M&E consultants, M&E contractors, local authorities, plumbing and heating contractors and plumbing and heating merchants
Area to be covered: North and Scotland
Remuneration: £50,000-£52,000 Neg. + £15,000-£20,000 Commission

Responsibilities
- Field sales position selling wall hung boilers and floor standing modular boilers and accessories
- 80% retrofit projects / 20% new build
- 80% new business development, 20% account management
- Following up on Barber ABI leads, with daily commercial boiler leads for contractors and plumbing & heating merchants, resulting in little cold calling
- Inheriting an area that has achieved 110% of target for the last three years
- Approximately a third of time spent gaining specifications with local authorities and M&E consultants (longer term projects)
- A third of time spent with M&E contractors, plumbing & heating contractors / installers
- Final third of time with national and independent plumbing & heating merchants (e.g., Wolseley, Plumbase Industrial, Plumb Centre Industrial) (90% of boilers sold through merchants)
- Targeted purely on commercial boilers sold; expected to sell approximately 80-100 wall hung boilers and 20+ floor standing boilers in the first year
- Average order value: wall hung boilers approx. £11,000; floor standing modular boilers starting from £3,000-£4,000
- Typical projects include schools, offices, hotels, nursing homes, etc.
Ideal applicant
- Specification Sales Manager - Commercial Boilers background in commercial plumbing and heating field sales, with experience selling technical commercial plumbing & heating products through M&E
- Ideally sold associated products to boilers such as pipes, pumps, flues, heat exchangers, plant rooms, fittings, water heaters, biomass boilers or heat pumps/renewable energy
- New business hunter with readiness to fight for every deal (not rely on brand recognition)
- Experience in winning specifications with M&E consultants and local authorities, managing relationships with M&E contractors/plumbing & heating contractors & installers; back-selling through plumbing and heating merchants (must have at least 2 of these 3 routes to market)
- Stable career history
- Strong character; not an order taker
- Work ethic and "get up and go"
