Business Development Manager | Peterborough | Full Time | Working hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm | £40,000–£55,000 DOE

Are you ready to take ownership of business growth for a highly respected civil engineering and building specialist?

With over 100 years of combined experience, our client delivers a broad range of services — including groundworks, bulk earthworks, enabling works, and full building projects across residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors.

They are now seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to help lead their next phase of regional growth.

What’s in it for you?
  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays
  • Hybrid working – primarily home-based with client visits and occasional office days
  • Car allowance or company vehicle provided
  • All travel expenses covered (typical travel within 50–60 miles of Peterborough)
  • Opportunity to shape the business’s growth strategy and secure high-value infrastructure and renewables projects
  • Work closely with a forward-thinking leadership team and influence long-term direction
Are you the right person for the job?

Our client is looking for an experienced, self-sufficient Business Development professional with strong knowledge of the construction, heavy civil engineering, infrastructure, or earthworks sectors.

You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

  • Confident, approachable, and able to build relationships quickly
  • Experienced in generating new business without needing hands‑on training
  • Results‑focused and commercially astute
  • Skilled in managing a BD pipeline and securing early project involvement
  • Comfortable engaging with tier‑one contractors, developers, framework partners, and public‑sector stakeholders
  • Competent with IT systems and industry software (ISO 9001 knowledge is beneficial)
  • A full driving licence is essential
What will your role look like?

As the Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in expanding the company’s presence across infrastructure, renewables, and other bulk‑earthworks sectors. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development and execution of the regional business development strategy
  • Securing early involvement in major projects where the company’s expertise adds value
  • Building and managing high‑value client relationships
  • Representing the business at industry forums, tenders, and pre‑bid meetings
  • Collaborating closely with operational and commercial teams to ensure delivery excellence
  • Feeding market intelligence back to the board to shape long‑term growth and bidding direction
  • Managing a BD pipeline covering project values typically between £500K–£6M

This is a regional role, focused on driving opportunity creation and revenue growth within the area.
