This role is 3 days per week

Job Purpose

You will work alongside the Head of IT Project Management, software developers and internal departments to gather the business requirements for new and enhanced software and applications; you will support and influence business change by building business cases and examining existing processes to identify improvements. You will lead on quality assurance testing of internal software and application development and support user acceptance testing with business teams. You will assist the Chief Digital Officer with influencing a Digital First agenda.

Key Responsibilities
Business Analyst
  • Requirements gathering – lead the requirements gathering process for any piece of work to elicit and capture high and low‑level requirements; draft acceptance criteria and attend product demonstrations to ensure requirements have been met in the build.
  • Create test plans and lead on quality assurance testing of software applications before supporting end‑users in undertaking user acceptance testing.
  • Create comprehensive documentation that can be shared and used by a wider audience (e.g., as‑is & to‑be workflows, process flows, requirements, user stories, wire‑frames, etc); play back requirements to stakeholders and obtain appropriate levels of sign‑off.
  • Influence Business Change – act as a bridge between various stakeholders (all levels) to ensure the desired change is successful, aiming for win‑win situations and maintaining confidence in your analysis.
  • Produce Business Cases – produce business cases to support proposed project(s).
  • Produce Business Process Models – experience producing process diagrams (As Is & To Be) showing the steps that RCVS carry out to respond to an event or trigger and achieve specific goals and objectives.
  • Issues and Risk Management – flag to the CDO or appropriate senior manager any risks or issues identified during the requirements gathering process.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications
  • Professional Business Analysis qualification e.g., BCS Business Analysis.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience in business analysis.
  • Proven experience of delivering projects to time, cost and quality.
  • Experience in drafting user stories, acceptance criteria and software specifications.
  • Successful experience of translating analysis into practical implementation.
  • Experience of creating test plans and leading software testing.
  • Facilitation and workshop experience.
  • Experience of different project management approaches e.g., agile and waterfall.
  • Experience working in an agile technology environment, development concepts and product management.
  • Creating and tasking plans for multiple workstreams.
  • Well‑developed planning, organisational and business analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Good influencing / negotiation skills to work with business teams to agree scope, requirements and priorities.
  • Risk and issue management experience.
  • Good team working skills.
  • High level of IT literacy, proficient user of Microsoft Office tools and MS Project.
Desired skills & experience
  • Knowledge of project management software.
  • Professional Business Analysis qualification e.g., BCS Business Analysis.
  • Knowledge of product life cycle for software and mobile app development.
