Building Technician Subsidence

Department: Claims Management

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Home United Kingdom

Description

The role consists of the management of subsidence claims, with a focus on the Mitigation or Repair phase of the claim. This will be to efficiently manage each phase proactively, to seek an effective and efficient outcome for the claim journey.

What will your day look like
  • Work as part of our desk-based subsidence team to drive subsidence claims towards settlement.
  • Communicate with customers, contractors and insurer clients over the telephone, email and in writing.
  • Produce technical reports to meet SLAs.
  • Manage daily tasks.
  • Manage third party companies to achieve vegetation removal and drain repairs to mitigate the cause of subsidence damage.
  • Update and create building repair scopes using our in-house schedule of rates.
  • Assess contractor estimates.
  • Negotiate cash settlements for repairs with policyholders.
  • Manage panel contractors, control repair schedules and costs.
  • Settle claims under delegated authority.
  • Maintain a high level of personal competence.
  • Adhere to Company systems and procedures.
  • Update the claim information relevant to claims IT system.
  • Actively promote the principle of Treating Customer Fairly.
  • Respond to requests and tasks set by the Senior members of the team.
  • Undertake any other tasks that are reasonably assigned from time to time.
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Previous subsidence/buildings insurance claims experience OR extensive trade experience (5+ years) OR be a graduate building surveyor.
  • Demonstrate great communication and organisation skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high standard of customer service.
  • Computer literate, with excellent verbal and written communication skills (minimum GCSE English grade C or equivalent).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced target driven environment.
  • Positive attitude and be a flexible, adaptive, self-motivated team player.
  • Attention to detail and ability to assess and resolve problems and find solutions.
  • Some knowledge and understanding of Subsidence in relation to insurance claims.
  • Some knowledge or experience of managing technical building claims.
  • Some knowledge and understanding of Claims Handling.
  • Excellent telephone skills.
  • Experience and understanding of Customer Service.
