Job description

The Building Services Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) services within a major event and performance venue. This position supports the maintenance, reliability, and performance of the venue's facilities, directly contributing to the successful delivery of events and the overall functionality of the building. The postholder will work across a wide variety of systems, carrying out routine maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and small project work to a high professional standard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across all M&E systems.
  • Support the operation and upkeep of building services essential to event delivery and venue functionality.
  • Carry out mechanical and electrical works safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory and organisational standards.
  • Provide technical assistance across a range of systems, working flexibly to meet operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other departments to ensure the continuous and reliable operation of building services.
  • Maintain accurate records of work carried out and contribute to ongoing improvements within the team.
Working Hours & Shift Pattern
  • Two (2) day shifts: 7:00am – 5:30pm
  • Two (2) late shifts: 4:00pm – 2:00am

The role requires availability any time between 7:00am and 2:00am, Monday to Sunday, with building services staff required on‑site 365 days a year.

Additional Requirements

Due to limited public transport options at 2:30am, the organisation provides a taxi home for team members finishing late shifts. To be eligible for this, candidates must reside within the M25 area, which serves as the boundary for late–shift transport support.
