Job description
Bodywork Mechanic
United Autosports – McLaren Hypercar Programme

Full-time | Global travel | High-pressure technical role

If you’re a meticulous, hands-on mechanic who takes pride in perfect panel fitment, clean execution and fast response under pressure — this is your chance to work on one of the most advanced endurance race cars in the world.

About the Role

As a Bodywork Mechanic on the McLaren Hypercar Programme, you will be responsible for fitting, maintaining and rapidly repairing all bodywork and aerodynamic components on the car.
Your work directly influences reliability, aerodynamic performance, cooling efficiency, safety and the overall professionalism of the garage.

This is a role for someone with exceptional attention to detail, great situational awareness, steady hands and the ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Preparing, fitting and maintaining bodywork, panels, aero components and hardware.
  • Ensuring perfect alignment, secure mounting and correct clearances.
  • Carrying out fast repairs, swaps and turnarounds during live sessions.
  • Working closely with Mechanics, Engineers, Composites and Garage Technicians.
  • Managing bodywork racks, protection, storage and event allocation.
  • Supporting damage inspection and coordinating composite repairs.
  • Maintaining perfect presentation of all fitted surfaces.
  • Supporting pitstop operations and event build/pack-down.
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven mechanical experience in high-level motorsport (WEC, LMP, GT, FE, F1 or similar).
  • Strong understanding of bodywork systems, fasteners, mounts and composite interfaces.
  • Calmness under pressure and ability to turn cars around at pace.
  • Exceptional attention to detail — nothing escapes your eye.
  • Strong communication and teamwork across departments.
  • High standards of organisation, workspace discipline and safety.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and work long, intensive race weekends.
Why This Role Matters

Bodywork is not cosmetic — it’s performance. Aero efficiency, cooling, reliability, access and safety all depend on flawless execution.
If you’re the type of person who can spot a misaligned panel from 20 metres away — and fix it in seconds — you’ll thrive here.

If you’re precise, fast, calm and take genuine pride in high-quality hands-on work, we want to speak to you.
